Please join us for the 9th Annual Marine & Composites Industry Career Day on Saturday, March 22. This one-day event, which is hosted by IYRS and RIMTA, is FREE to the public and will draw marine and composites industry experts and employers who are all coming to IYRS with one goal in mind: to connect with individuals interested in the marine and composites industries. Career seekers will have an opportunity to meet with boat builders, boat yards, and marine manufacturers; learn about the skills needed to work in the boating business; gather information on how to gain in-demand skills; learn about career prospects in the industry; and attend informative seminars.

 

Event Schedule

  • 9AM: Exhibitor setup
  • 10-10:30AM:  Event open to IYRS students & alumni
  • 10:30AM-1PM: Event open to the public
  • 10:30AM: IYRS campus tour & admissions overview for prospective students
  • 11AM: Seminar: Navigating Your Job Search in Today's Economy
  • Neal Harrell of Brooks Marine Group, a leading recruiting firm specializing in the marine industry, will show career seekers how to navigate their job search in today’s economy. Harrell understands the job-search process from both the employer’s and employee’s viewpoint, and he will be coming to Career Day to dispense valuable advice. Today’s job search is a process that involves building the necessary tools—including a well-written resume, networking and interviewing techniques, and smart use of social media—identifying your market, and promoting yourself effectively to decision-makers. Harrell will also talk about trends in the marketplace and the hottest sectors for hiring.   • 12PM: Seminar: Diversification of the boatbuilding industry and the skills needed to succeed in a changing environment
