Under restoration. Many of the design features found on this rare daysailer have been thoroughly time tested and remain in vogue today.  With minimum overhangs, the hollow bowed sloop maximizes its waterline length while finishing with a long easy run aft.  Excellent in light air, a deep and long cockpit provides ample protection for the skipper and several friends as they enjoy a lively performance boat.  The small cabin with transom benches could provide overnight shelter for the hardy or just a reprieve from the sun.

Of note in the IYRS restoration is the replacement of the iron ballast keel with one cast in lead affixed with bronze keel bolts.  Driven by a high aspect main and overlapping jib, the change of material at the bottom of the elegant fin should only add to the boat’s performance.  Classic racer or picnic platform, the Challenger strikes a remarkable profile both underway and at rest.
