You will receive an email with a link to activate your student portal. Once you establish your account, this will be your go-to spot for tracking your admissions progress. 

3. Complete the items in your admissions checklist
The admissions checklist will be available for you to view in your student portal once your login has been activated. This will include items to submit like your official transcript and resume as well as financial aid documents. If you would like to upload an optional portfolio or letter of recommendation, you can also add those here. It is perfectly fine to send the additional materials later to complete your file if you need to. After all of your documentation is in, we will schedule your interview as the last item on the checklist.

Here's what to expect after you submit your application

Receive your admission decision within 48 hours of application completion
IYRS programs are small by design. IYRS makes its admissions decisions on a rolling basis, and we suggest you apply as early as possible for your desired program and term. Once your application checklist is complete, the admissions committee will review your file and send you an admissions decision through your portal. As programs fill, applicants will be assigned to a waitlist or may defer to a future term.

We host new student orientation in the fall for each of our four programs (Boatbuilding & Restoration, Composites Technology, Digital Modeling & Fabrication, Marine Systems). We also welcome new Marine Systems students in the spring for the 6-month program which runs twice a year.

1. Speak with the admissions team
They will activate the alumni application in your student portal.

2. Complete the alumni application
This includes a short answer question and an instructor recommendation. 
 

If the answer is "no"

1. Create your student portal login and apply.
This is where you will complete your application and submit additional documents. Create your portal login and start your application. Once you establish your account, you may submit your application and track your admissions progress. 

2. Ask one of your IYRS instructors to write a recommendation on your behalf. 
You will see this item on a checklist in your student portal once you've created your login and filled out the application.
