Position Summary:

The Development & Marketing Associate works to proactively administrate and improve all aspects of the IYRS experience for donors and assists in creating relevant and compelling marketing content for donors, prospective students, and others.  The Development & Marketing Associate supports all aspects of the Development & Marketing departments, including digital content creation, grant proposals, gift acknowledgements, fundraising appeals, and events, and oversees the daily use and management of the Raiser’s Edge database including gift input and reporting.  The Development & Marketing Associate may work directly with donors to provide excellent, friendly, and timely support to their needs and requests. This position offers the opportunity to learn and gain experience with marketing channels, content creation, and best practices.

The ideal individual is upbeat and conscientious. Excellent writing and grammar skills are necessary. The individual has strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Position Functions:

Development

o    Maintain and update grant proposal calendar and ensure timely submissions  

o    With Director of Development & Marketing, create grant proposals

o    With Director of Development & Marketing, create grant funding reports for donors

o    Research and identify new grant opportunities

o    Create and mail proper and timely correspondence to donors including gift acknowledgment letters

o    Coordinate the generation of thank you notes to scholarship funders from students

o    Be the in-house Raiser’s Edge lead

o    Input all new constituents, including new graduating classes, and donations received

o    Maintain consistency and accuracy of all donor records

o    Generate weekly giving reports

o    Reconcile donation data with Finance monthly and quarterly

o    Export constituent information for stewardship, event invites, and analysis

Marketing

o    Assist with creating content for fundraising appeals and events

o    Coordinate mailings and email campaigns

o    Create social media posts as needed

o    Assist in the planning and execution of major school events including the Gala

o    Design email campaigns in Constant Contact

o    Create written content for the IYRS website as needed

o    Update the IYRS website using the Finalsite platform as needed. Training provided.

Perform other duties as assigned/required.

From time to time, additional time will be required on weeknights and weekends to support student and school activities such as Graduation & Launch Day, Annual Summer Gala, Classic Yacht Regatta, and others as necessary.

Successful candidates will have:

o    At least two years of Raisers’ Edge experience with proficiency in accurate report and list generation

o    Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs  

o    Corporate or non-profit marketing content creation (print, email, web, or social media) experience a plus

o    Experience with Constant Contact a plus

o    Experience with Finalsite website platform a plus

o    Experience with Hootsuite a plus

o    Comfort with using web-based platforms, tools, and programs

o    Strong organizational, management, and planning skills

o    Self-starter and problem solver who will seek out opportunities for improvement within the department

o    Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written

o    Collaborative, enthusiastic, and positive attitude

o    Bachelor’s Degree
