IYRS School of Technology & Trades Announces "Early Bird" Earth Day Cleanup on 4/15

Newport, R.I. -  IYRS School of Technology & Trades will host an "Early Bird" Earth Day Cleanup from noon-2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from noon-2 p.m. This community initiative aims to beautify lower Thames Street and the surrounding areas, reflecting IYRS's commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.

The event will commence at the IYRS campus, located at 449 Thames Street, Newport, RI. Participants will gather at Restoration Hall before dispersing to designated cleanup zones along Thames Street. All necessary materials, including gloves and trash bags will be provided to volunteers.

"We’re very fortunate to be located here on lower Thames Street and feel compelled to help keep the neighborhood clean " said Nate Farrar, Director of Facilities at IYRS. “We’re grateful to LitterFree.RI.gov for helping to facilitate this event, which will build a sense of stewardship in our community to help maintain Newport’s waterfront."

The "Early Bird" Earth Day Cleanup is open to all community members, local businesses, students, and alumni.
