Teaching Teens: An IYRS Summer Program Graduate Heads to the Webb Institute

We love receiving news like this from parents of our summer program students! Each summer, IYRS hosts teens age 14-15 for a five-week wooden canoe building program. Students learn woodworking and boatbuilding skills and launch their canoes in Newport Harbor at the conclusion of the program. Congratulations, Gio!

"I wanted to share with you the impact IYRS's summer program in 2019 has had on my son, Gio Perrotti.  Gio enjoyed the hands-on nature of this camp, and it sparked his interest in marine engineering and naval architecture.  He will study those subjects when he heads to college at the Webb Institute this fall.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Gio won a scholarship, and IYRS was mentioned in the write-up.  https://www.offshorewindus.org/student-scholarship/

I thought you would appreciate the long-term effects of IYRS's excellent programming."
