This workshop will teach you how to identify the parts of a basic diesel engine, understand their function, do basic maintenance and bleed air from the system. The goal is for you to know enough to know when you really need to call a mechanic.

Day 1

  • Overview of engine function
  • Understanding exhaust smoke
  • Discussion of and handling various parts of the engine
  • Optional lunch out with classmates or bring your own
  • Install the components we handled onto the engine
  • Discuss maintenance of oil and fuel systems
  • Optional dinner out nearby with classmates and instructors. Enjoy some food and laughs outside of the classroom. Spouses/partners encouraged to join us.

Day 2

  • On a working engine, discuss troubleshooting electrical issues
  • Hands on experience bleeding air from the engine to get it running
  • Optional lunch out with classmates or bring your own
  • Remove the components we installed yesterday, discussing again the purpose of each part
  • Go home with new knowledge and skills

*Meals are optional and not included in workshop fee
**Tools and components will be provided; feel free to bring your own as well
