This hands-on course is all about getting comfortable with boat electrical systems onboard a typical boat of 50 feet or less and learning basic wiring skills for a successful season on the water. We will review tools needed, wiring techniques and electrical best practices, batteries and load calculations, preliminary troubleshooting, and much more. You will learn basic installation of components such as lights, radios and electronics. Participants will also learn how to power up and test electrical components. 

This course will be taught at IYRS's waterfront campus in downtown Newport by IYRS alumna Beth Burlingame '12 and by IYRS Dean of Education Lisa Esposito '20 who are both ABYC certified in marine electrical, systems, and diesel.
