In this eco-based workshop we will be combining the processes of cyanotype and seaweed pressing to create unique pieces of art on paper.
Cyanotype is a technique that involves laying objects on paper coated with a light sensitive emulsion and exposing it to UV light. The objects block the light rays, and when the paper is developed in a water bath, they leave white impressions while the exposed areas of the paper turn various shades of blue.
We will be using dried seaweed and other materials, mostly sourced from nature to create our prints. In addition to the cyanotype prints, we will be working with seaweed to create collage pressings and review techniques that combine the two processes.
We will be making multiple prints on different types and sizes of paper.
This workshop will be taught by artist Mary Jameson.
Limited to 12 participants.
